1. I agree with Professor Miller's assesment about what she sees going on in her classrooms. I think that what she is saying is a typical issue for many students because we simply do not want to work hard anymore. With todays advanced modern technology like iPods, cellphones, and the internet, there are too many distractions that make life easy and make normal work appear to be difficult. So because we are all used to this lifestyle for the most part, we are reluctant to work hard in the classroom.
2. I personally see the reason of a college degree is to get a good education and then pursue your desired career and try to be succesful. But I am begining to feel that more and more students just see college as another excuse to party, slack off, and hang out. To many students, being without parents and rules at college is something they all can't wait for. But what they do not realize is the significane of getting good college education becuase it will determine much of the success in their lives. And so parents and teachers are the ones who recognize these problems and want to try and pursuade the student mind into getting a good college education because for the most part it will ultimatley determine the line between succes or failure in life.
3. Personally, I feel myself as being well prepaired for college. I defiently think that the oppurtunity to become prepared for college is there. It all depends on if you are willing to try hard, or if you succumb to the powers of modern technological advances that make trying hard extremely difficult. But as for me, I know that I have realized whats at stake and I have tried hard to become prepaired.
4. In order to be fully prepared for my college education I would like to see more lecture-hall lkfe enviornments so that we are not blown away when we first are encounterd with one of these. Furthermore, I think that many of our seinor classes should be taught by teachers who have the ability to make a class seem excatctly like a college course. This way we could be prepared for what the actual courses will be like.
5. I think that the most important things that one should learn before their actual college experience should be what they will be studying in college. I think that if we are going to be studying a certain topic and persuing a certain career, we should learn that topic instead of learning things that we will not use.
6. I would be willing to do the work that would be the least difficult and time consuming. Beucase I am not going to lie and say I want to stay up all night working. But if it means putting in a few extra hours here and there in order to get a good college education, I would be willing to do so.
